29 December Knowledge History - Science, Engineering and Management


1939 - William Shockley wrote in his diary that an amplifier can be made using semiconductor instead of vacuum tube. The transistor was made of semiconductor and Shockley shared Nobel prize for its invention in 1956 with John Bardeen and Walter Brattain.

1952 - The first transistor hearing aid went on sale, the model 1010 manufactured by the Sonotone Corporation in Elmsford, NY, U.S.
