Agenda Inc., a San Francisco-based marketing company, found that 59 brands had been mentioned 645 times in the songs that have made it onto the Billboard Top 20 chart so far in 2004.
Most brands welcome the association.
Almost all brand references in songs are there because the artist likes the brand or thinks it will help communicate a point and they are not paid for.
In India also, in film songs the brand names started appearing. Zandu balm and Fevicol are two examples.
