Leadership Roles - The Concept

Concept

Roles and activities are what leaders do, and skills are concerned with how leaders can be effective.

Fred Luthans, Organizational Behavior, 9th Ed., McGraw-Hill Irwin, 2002, p. 608

One recent analysis argued that five key leadership roles will shape managerial successes in the next decade.

1. Development of strategic vision that will motivate and inspire
2. Empowerment of employees.
3. Accumulation and sharing of internal knowledge
4. Gathering and interpreting external information
5. Enabling creativity and proactively changing procedures and systems in the direction of improvement and development.

Luthans (p.609).
